Pedersen slowly lowers her arm with the screwdriver and pockets it next to the Stanley knife. "Don't mind if I do", she replies, glaring slightly at Cadet high-and-mighty-in-command. No, she thinks, that's not fair, he's just doing his job, not everyone aspiring to command is like those snobby bastards back at the academy.

Cadet Esser was right, she had jumped to the conclusion that the arm belonged to Hutton.. even if was what made most sense, since he'd just left for Engineering mere minutes before they found the limb.

But his tone, goodness! Manners maketh man! Until he'd proven his worth and capabilities, she'd have none of that, thank you very much. "Very well, Esser, I will PLEASE head back to sickbay and check on the others and yes, I will PLEASE bring back the Medi-PAC GADGET to examine the limb"

She heads for the door, carefully avoiding the soggy puddle of vomit poor Jarman created a while earlier. As she exits, she calls back to Esser. "And the name is Pedersen. At least for now".

Cadet Pedersen's head jerks towards the door openening, body tense and alert but as she sees Cadet Esser enter, she visibly relaxes. "Maker, Esser, you scared me! Don't sneak up on people like that! Listen, something is very, very wrong onboard this ship, come take a look at this! I think this might be what's left of Hutton!" She points to the severed arm. "What do you make of it? You were first through and saw Hutton leave for Engineering, did you see or hear anything out of the ordinary?"

She takes a few fast steps towards the monitor updating in the background. "And look, the main power is far from up, which, I take it, means no internal sensors. Basically, the only way to find out what's going on is going out there." She gestures to the door, screwdriver still in her hand.

As if suddenly remembering, she stops her pacing. "Where is the doctor and injured guy, Cadet Baklid? Are they back in sickbay? I really think we should get them and all stick together. With our different skills, there is both strength and safety in numbers. Nothing good comes from splitting up before we get an overview of the situation."

Not getting an answer from anyone, Cadet Pedersen decides it's time to go see if there's anything she can help Cadet Hutton with. Also, he's alone in Engineering, he might need assistance. She exits the door, walks down the corridor and pauses in front of the entrance to Engineering. As she enters, she thinks, "here's to hoping the techies have made some progress with internal sensors.. and perhaps external as well".

"How is he doing, doc?" Pedersen asks Cadet Lentz who is furiously tapping away at his GADGET. "Is there anything you need? The medicin cabinet over there seems well-stocked with anything you might require."

A blue glow behind her indicates another transport and she turns and sees Jarman appearing. She waves lightly, returning his greeting and walks over to him. "Welcome to the other side, it seems we all made it. Cadet Hutton is down the corridor in Engineering," she gestures in the direction of the door "if you need to talk to him. I was thinking of going there myself to see if he needed a hand with anything. Being Security I feel a bit out of my depth regarding internal sensors and RMTPs but I can bring and fetch."

She looks over at the Command Cadet, "Esser, how were things when you got here? Anything out of the ordinary? I can't believe the dock crew hasn't come on board yet, they must have noticed everyone's out of contact." She pauses, seemingly considering something. "Esser, you didn't happen to find a comm-PAC when you found that GADGET, did you? If we have one of those, we could try to contact the outside" Without waiting for an answer, she starts rummaging through the cupboards and cabinets in the room.

Pedersen looks around the room, then walks over to a cadet holding a GADGET, "Pardon me, are you Cadet Hutton?" She notices his nametag. "Oh, sorry, Esser, I was looking for Hutton, do you know where he is? Jarman wants him to get working on the internal sensors asap. Cadet Baklid is in bad shape so we need to get the Doc back to him with a Medi-PAC and a stretcher."

She heads towards one of the biobeds and opens the lower compartment and starts pulling out a stretcher. "Hey Lentz, I found  the stretcher, come give me a hand."

"Goodness, someone didn't score very high on the stress handling test, did they? Fine, go on, I'll stay and watch over Baklied. I'm armed after all." Cadet Pedersen pulls out the Stanley knife and plays around with it in an intricate pattern of moves. "Just get your arses back here asap. I won't rest easy until I find out what's going on". She crouches down next to Cadet Baklid, checking his pulse, which is beating calmly and steadily.

"Yes, it's just down the corridor, three or four doors, tops". She points in the general direction of the room. There's nothing there now but if you want to check it out, I can take you. I do think, however, that we should send Lentz off with the patient first, he's not looking all that well". She indicates towards Cadet Baklid whose face has taken on an ashen colour.
"Your call, Jarman. Do you want to take a look at the room or do we transport to where the others are?"

Cadet Pedersen looks over at the medic, pondering the foolishness of sending off the only guy who knows how to operate the RMTP. "Oh well, if it works, it works", she thinks "If it doesn't, the poor sod on the floor is a gonner anyway". She walks over to the toolbox and examines its content. She pockets a screwdriver, puts a roll of duct tape on her belt and gauges a heavy wrench in her hand only to put it back in favour of a Stanley knife. "Just hurry it up, I don't think it's a brilliant idea to split up too much until we know what on Earth is going on."

"Yes, the side of the ship had been torn open, sucking everyone in the room out. Come to think of it, the force field on the doors held, though, so at least that part of the system is still working." She looks at the bleeding Cadet Baklid, "so this is why we're using the RMTP. He looks in pretty bad shape. Any word from the ones you sent before him? Do we even know if they've arrived safely?" She does a quick scan of the room, checking for anything useful. "Do we have any tools to work with? I -knew- I should have insisted on keeping my GADGET. I mean, I would have liked to take notes for our exams!".

After squeezing through the doors, Cadet Pedersen comes face to face with a group of cadets standing by the matter transmission platform. "Oh hello, SO good to see you, I'm Pedersen, Security. Do you know what's been going on? I.. well, fainted, I suppose, and when I came to, the room I had just exited, leaving my team behind had been torn to shreads with my Lieutenant in it. All of them.. gone. What could cause something like that? Short of an outright attack on the ship, only a run-in with an asteroid field could do damage like that. So, has there been some sort of ship-wide breakdown? Are we under attack? Sorry for the rambling, I have so many questions.. "

She looks around and realises they've been using the platform. "Err.. are you quite certain those things are safe? I thought they were still under evaluation. And where's Commander Halbert? My Lieutenant sent me here to fetch him."

Cadet Maya Pedersen wakes up on the cold floor with nausea rolling through her body. What -was- that? What had happened that could knock her out cold like that? There hadn't been any physical contact, beside the nausea she was fine.
Slowly, she staggers to her feet and then she remembers. Her team mates! She stares in disbelief at the room behind the forcefield which had only seconds ago been full of people she'd thought she'd one day operate a star ship with. No one left, they're all dead! The horror of it hits her full on when she realises that not only are her friends gone, she herself has only narrowly escaped certain death by being closest to the door when the Lieutenant ordered her to seek out Commander Halbert.

Where was he by the way? Had he even survived?

Right, calm down and think. Priorities first; if this is a ship-wide emergency, the best couse of action is to gather up survivors and form taskforces to secure the ship from taking more damage and return it to operational state. Now, wasn't there someone calling out for the commander? She listens carefully and walks in the direction of whoever is out there.

Old post is old, let's pump it to the top of the charts!

For me there is no doubt, RPGs. Tabletop, computers, bookbased. Even forumRPGs :D
A good story will pull me in every time and keep me occupied for days on end. I will forego food and sleep if the game is good enough *cough* Dragon Age *cough*
